VTA BENCHMARK LAB

Measure. Compare. Verify.

Six initial benchmark tracks for comparing Virtacoin and Bitcoin. Published results should distinguish documented protocol specifications from measurements collected from live networks.

TEST 01

Confirmation Latency

Measure broadcast-to-confirmation time and successive confirmations under defined network conditions.

Measurement required
TEST 02

Transaction Fees

Record transaction size, fee rate and total fee for comparable transfers.

Measurement required
TEST 03

Block Production

Compare observed block intervals with each network's documented target.

Measurement required
TEST 04

Network Security

Document hashpower, miner concentration, reorganization observations and relevant attack assumptions.

Research required
TEST 05

Codebase Audit

Compare consensus, validation, networking, wallet and test components using matching repository snapshots.

Code audit required
TEST 06

Payment Suitability

Evaluate settlement latency, fees, reliability and integration requirements for a defined payment scenario.

Measurement required

Reproducible Test Method

Every published benchmark should make the test conditions visible so another researcher can repeat the measurement.

01

Define

Set the exact metric, transaction type and observation window.

02

Collect

Capture timestamps, fees, blocks, nodes and source-code revisions.

03

Normalize

Use comparable units and disclose conditions that differ between networks.

04

Publish

Show raw observations, calculations, sources and limitations.

Research principle

A faster target block or a different PoW algorithm is a technical difference, not by itself proof that one network is superior. VTA Benchmark will use measurable evidence to determine what conclusions the data can support.
